Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF)
Entry requirements
In order to register on to this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements:
- Be employed in a suitable role (as outlined above) within the health and social care or children and young people’s sector.
- It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent) to undertake this qualification.
- Additionally, it is recommended that learners are able to demonstrate prior achievement of qualifications at a minimum of level 3 in a related area.
- It is recommended that learners will have completed a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Assessment
This qualification is assessed through completion of a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed and internally quality assured by the centre. It comprises of a number of Mandatory and a selection of Optional Units to achieve a total of 90 credits.

Qualification overview and objective
This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to extend their occupational competence as professionals within the health and social care and children and young people’s sectors. It is aimed at individuals who are working as care managers or advanced practitioners within these sectors. In addition to being a stand-alone qualification, this 90-credit qualification forms the combined knowledge and competency element of the Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management – Level 5 (England) for adult social care ONLY.
The HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (QCF) contains six pathways. Learners must select one of these pathways dependent on their role and the type of care provision they work in:
- Children and Young People’s Management
- Children and Young People’s Advanced Practice
- Adults’ Residential Management
- Adults’ Management
- Adults’ Advanced Practice
